WHAT IS THREADED / THREADLESS JEWELRY?
Our jewelry mechanism is 1 of 2 types: Threaded or Threadless.
Threaded – this means that there is a screw. We specifically use Internally Threaded only.
⭕️ Internally Threaded – rotate clockwise to tighten, and anticlockwise to release. “Righty tighty, Lefty loosey”. This type is more secure, but can also be more difficult for the client to change themselves.
We only use Internally Threaded.
❌ We choose not to use Externally Threaded jewelry because the bumpy threading on the outside of the stem can be “scratchy” and scrape the piercing channel when changing jewelry. The threading on the outside can also harbour bacteria, and push contaminates inside the piercing channel when changing jewelry. This type is often sold at mall kiosks and commonly used by piercers that are less knowledgeable not certified.
Threadless – this means that instead of a screw, it is a “push-pin” system.
⭕️ Threadless – push the pin into the post to lock, and twist & pull to release. This type is easier for the client to manipulate (especially those with long nails!), but can also be accidentally pulled out.
