My name is Sara, and I have been piercing professionally in Hong Kong for 7 years. I grew up in Toronto Canada, and was classically mentored by a well respected piercer at a high traffic shop in the heart of downtown GTA. I was piercing in Toronto for 2 years before I moved to HK!
I strictly adhere to US/ North American hygiene standards and techniques practiced in the Western body modification industry. I follow APP (Association of Professional Piercers) standards, and use only APP reputable jewelry imported from America and UK for your peace of mind. All my piercings are performed by hand with a single-use surgical needle.
✔️ Single-use blade needle is the best tool to perform body piercings. It creates the most smooth and hygienic channel to ensure optimal healing.
✔️ Using a single needle-prick can be more precise, allowing for extremely accurate angles and more aesthetically pleasing curations!
✔️ Piercing needles are sharp and cause the least amount of damage when pushed through the skin. They glide through while creating a smooth channel for the jewelry to settle in, and assisting your body in adapt to and healing a “fistula” around the jewelry. This reduces irritation and scarring so your piercing can heal properly and stay healthy.
Piercing needles are surgically designed to glide thru the skin – this method is definitely LESS PAINFUL than gunned piercings!!
DO PIERCINGS HURT?
Most piercings are very quick (within 3 seconds) and the pain is minimal. Though the tolerance for pain can vary from person to person, but most people are very surprised at how easy and fast the process can be.
I direct the client to do a deep breathing motion: (“Take a Deep Breath in….”/ “Slowly Breathe out…”) during the piercing process to help the client focus attention on their breathing.
This makes the the process feel more natural and helps reduce discomfort!
Most piercings are completed within a “breathing in and breathing out” motion.
Remember that piercing needles are surgically designed to glide thru the skin! This method creates the smoothest incision and least amount of trauma!
All of my clients agree that the piercing hurts less than they expect, and often come back for more after seeing what a professional body piercing service should feel like.
What are the benefits of using ASTM F136 implant-grade Titanium over other metals?
💍 Titanium is a lightweight metal that is ideal for people with concerns about nickel sensitivity:
✔️ ASTM F136 is the specification for the Titanium to be used for surgical implants – it is the most biocompatible material suitable for fresh and healed body piercings!
✔️ The only quality recommended for use by the Association of Professional Piercers is Titanium that is certified to meet ASTM or ISO standards for surgical implant applications.
ASTM F136 “Implant-grade” Titanium is completely biocompatible and is designed for long-term wear under the skin. This grade of Titanium is NICKEL-FREE and it is the most appropriate material available for surgical implants and can help piercings heal more quickly compared with other metals such as steel and lower grades of titanium. The composition of the titanium alloy used in ASTM F136 is tightly bound so that it cannot break down under the skin and release metal particles inside the body.
Although other grades of titanium, such as grade 23, do adhere to the EU Nickel Directive they are not as biocompatible as ASTM F136 titanium and are not designed for long-term wear under the skin. The use of ASTM F136 titanium ensures the greatest possible chance that a piercing will heal properly.
